Draco volans (Linneaus 1758) is a living agamid and a sister to Iguana and Phyrnosoma within the clade Iguania. This lizard employs elongated and hinged ribs to glide from tree perches. This is unlike the morphology of Permian through Cretaceous gliders like Coelurosauravus, Icarosaurus and Kuehneosaurus which use elongated dermal ossicles attached to nonmoveable ribs fused to each centrum.
