Bahndwivici ammoskius (Conrad 2006a) Green River Formation, early Eocene FMNH PR2260 was originally considered a shinsaurid anguimorph. That may be true, but it has not been tested. Here Bahndwivici nests at the base of the varanoids, Varanus, snakes and their kin. Cryptolacerta was a sister and both were derived from a sister to Carusia and Yabeinosaurus.

Distinct from Cryptolacerta, the vertebrae were shorter, especially so posteriorly. The scapulocoracoid was not fenestrated. The hands and feet were relatively larger.

Shinisaurus crocodilurus (Li and Xiao 2002) is a living relative of Bahndwivici. Here, from Conrad (2006b), the unossified portions of the skeleton and deep portions of the skull are shown in gray.
